29 May 2020 – Meeting with the UNODC Global Judicial Integrity Network (GJIN)

The RAI Secretariat’s Team had a video-conference meeting with the representatives of the UNODC Global Judicial Integrity Network, to discuss possible avenues for future cooperation in the promotion of judicial integrity in the SEE region. During the meeting, the teams also discussed the organization of the RAI Summer School, whose goals are multifold, including, among others, the promotion of RAI and UNODC knowledge products; expending the UNODC training sites among the SEE judiciaries through partnerships with the Judicial training institutions; organization of joint webinars for promotion of IT judiciary tools developed by RAI. Given that, RAI included UNODC’s judicial training materials at the RAI web site http://www.rai-see.org/online-training/.
The UNODC Judicial Integrity initiative aims to assist the judiciaries across the globe to strengthen judicial integrity and prevent corruption in the justice sector, in line with the article 11 of the UNCAC. The initiative has also facilitated the creation of the Global Judicial Integrity Network (GJIN), which was officially established in April 2018. The Network is open to the judiciaries and a broad range of individuals and institutions, including judges, magistrates, members of judicial councils, court personnel, judicial associations, and other stakeholders, as well as relevant international organizations. Thus far, GJIN has trained more than 1,600 judges at 49 training sites across the globe.
