The Chairperson plays a pivotal role within the Initiative’s framework for ensuring the permanent coordination of the activities undertaken by the member countries in implementing the commitments endorsed within the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative Strategic document. In this regard he/she convenes and chairs the Steering Group meetings. The Chairperson also oversees the enforcement of the decisions taken by the Steering Group. He/she represents the Initiative in the relations with all international partners and promotes the implementation of RAI’s strategic objectives.
According to the decision made during the 11th RAI Steering Group Meeting, held in Podgorica, Montenegro, on October 09-10, 2007, Ms. Vesna Ratkovic was elected to be the new Chairperson of the Initiative, following the idea for the transformation of RAI into full regional ownership and leadership. By decision of the RAI Steering Group, in its 13th meeting held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on October 29-30 2009, Ms. Ratkovic was re-elected as RAI Chairperson.
