Regional Workshop for validation of the "Methodology on Anti-corruption Assessment (Corruption Proofing) of Legislation" and "Methodology on Corruption Risk Assessment" – September 9 and 10, 2014 – Becici, Montenegro

The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI), in cooperation with the Directorate for Anti-corruption Initiative of Montenegro (DACI), organized the Regional Workshop for validation of the Methodology on Anti-corruption Assessment (Corruption Proofing) of Legislation on September 9, 2014 and the Regional Workshop for validation of the Methodology on Corruption Risk Assessment on September 10, 2014 in Becici, Montenegro.

The purpose of workshops was the review of current situation and experience in countries of the region on corruption risk assessment process and anti-corruption assessment of legislation. The most relevant national experts coming from South Eastern Europe were given an opportunity to share their experiences, know-how, concerns and issues regarding the topics.

The most important goal of both events was to discuss findings of the undertaken researches and the consequent Methodologies, as well as to improve and validate these documents based on expertise and participants’ experience in the related fields.

It was concluded that Anti-corruption Assessment (Corruption Proofing) of Legislation and Corruption Risk Assessment can be recommended as a tool for tackling corruption and boosting integrity in public administration. Based on inputs received during workshops, methodologies are to be updated to further reveal the existing practices within the region and to integrate mechanisms from outside the region as best practices by integrating experts’ inputs.

The countries’ representatives were delegates from National Anti-corruption Agencies/Bodies, Ministries of Justice, Ministries of Internal Affairs and other relevant institutions. The organizers express their gratitude to Dr. Tilman Hoppe, Mr. Goran Klemencic, Dr. Liljana Selinsek, as well as all the participants for their invaluable contributions to both workshops.
