AUSTRIAN PARTIES AGREE ON STRONGER ANTI-CORRUPTION RULES

Austria's five parliamentary parties agreed Tuesday on tightening party donation rules, reacting to a string of recent corruption allegations, the centre-right People's Party confirmed. Donations over 7,000 euros (9,000 dollars) are to be made public on the internet once the reform enters into force next year. Citizens have virtually no access to such information at the moment. State-owned companies and government authorities will no longer be allowed to bolster parties' funds.
