MOLDOVA: EURO 1700 FOR LICENSE IN CONSTRUCTION

Anti-corruption officers arrested an official from the Sports Centre for training national teams on suspicion of influence peddling yesterday afternoon.

Suspect would have extorted and received from the manager of a firm Euro 1700, under pretext to have influence on some employees of the Chamber of Licensing to issue a license in construction.

At the time of arrest, the sum of Euro 1000 marked "CCECC bribe" was found in suspect's pocket.

Note that Euro 700 was delivered to the suspect under operative control of CCECC previously.

Thus, a criminal case was started under art.326, paragraph (2) b of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova that provides a fine penalty from 1000 to 3000 conventional units or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years.

We note that 11 cases of traffic of influence are investigated by CCECC from the beginning of 2012 year.
