SERBIA: JUDGE ARRESTED IN ANTI-CORRUPTION OPERATION

Members of the Ministry of Interior (MUP) criminal investigations department and Kraljevo Police Department today arrested Judge Srećko Topalović.

The 55-year-old was detained as part of an anti-corruption operation in the central Serbian town.

Police also arrested Milomir Nikić (69) from Raška, Valid Halidović (27) and Abdulah Muminović (54), both from Novi Pazar, the MUP said in a statement on Monday.

The action was carried out in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, the statement reads.

According to the statement, Topalović, a judge at the Kraljevo Basic Court's department in Raška, was arrested for abuse of office, taking bribe and violating the law, the statement reads.

Nikić, a warehouse clerk at the court depot in Raška, was arrested on suspicion of abuse of office and taking bribe.

Halidović and Muminović, who is the owner of the SMS Trade company, were arrested on suspicion of giving bribes, the statement concludes.
