Mr. Drazen Jelenic
RAI Chairperson as of January 4, 2024, elected at the 42nd RAI Steering Group Meeting.
Mr. Jelenić is holding the office of Deputy State Attorney General of the Republic of Croatia.
He acquired a Master’s degree in Law at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb and passed the Bar Exam.
During his professional life, Mr. Jelenic has been devoted to the Croatian public prosecution service and has been a public prosecutor for almost 28 years.
In that service, he went through all the steps, from trainee to chief prosecutor on municipal, county, and state levels to the position of State Attorney General of the Republic of Croatia. Ever since working at the Municipal State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb as a young public prosecutor, he has mainly dealt with economic crime and corruption. This is especially true for the part of his career spent as deputy director of the Office for Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime (USKOK). Apart from prosecuting cases and management of state attorney offices, he contributed to the enactment and drafting of new laws, bylaws and regulations, developing policies and strategies aimed at improving state attorney’s organization and fight against corruption, both on prevention and prosecution levels.
For more than 3 years Mr. Jelenić was a President of the State Attorney’s Council.
He was a member and a Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Croatia to GRECO for almost 20 years, as well as has been GRECO’s evaluator in 3 evaluation rounds for 10 countries on themes of corruption-related incriminations, corruption prevention in respect of judges and prosecutors, preventing corruption and promoting integrity in law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Jelenić was the author of several expert articles in the field of criminal law and co-author of both editions of the manual for the work of state attorneys. He presented at a number of domestic and international conferences and events and as a trainer led several workshops, mainly on topics related to the fight against corruption.
He is a member of the Croatian Association for Criminal Sciences and Practice.
