While enforcement of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act remains a critical standard by which to develop anti-corruption compliance programmes, the UK Bribery Act has reformed the criminal law to provide a new, modern and comprehensive scheme of bribery offences. The new Act will enable courts and prosecutors to respond more effectively to bribery at home or abroad. At he same time, recent cases involving French companies and individuals such as Total SA, Thales and the Frigates of Taiwan and the so-called Sofremi case just prove and remind the business community of European regulators and prosecutors determination to tackle corrupt practices more than ever before.
Now in its 9th successful year, this European Forum on Anti-Corruption will again assemble a leading faculty of experienced in-house and private practice lawyers, compliance executives and government officials who will provide the latest insights to facilitate compliance with anti-corruption laws and mitigate damage should a violation ever happen.
